Ms. Jones said it was hard to make something ADA accessible and also environmentally friendly. She <br />would rather see something more natural looking. Ms. Nunn echoed Ms. Jones' comments. <br />Ms. Morrison asked if it was required that the path be ADA accessible. Ms. French responded that one <br />route within the Eastgate Woodlands should be ADA accessible and currently there were no ADA <br />accessible routes. <br />Mr. Sonnichsen did not think anyone anticipated the path would be torn up. He was surprised to hear <br />that Mr. Miller wanted to do that. He suggested the project not be done until the CPC had an opportunity <br />to determine what type of path surface they would like to see. <br />Ms. Mello suggested that Ms. French meet with Mr. Miller to better understand what he thought the path <br />should look like. <br />8. Old Business <br />a. Review of Kayak Event — New Kayak Events 7/24 & 8/28 <br />Mr. Richardson reported that the first two kayak events went well, noted that 8 to 12 participants and <br />some observers had attended the first event. He said feedback he received on the events was positive. A <br />third and fourth have been scheduled for July 24 and August 28, respectively. <br />(W Ms. Mello talked about what she observed at the first event. She said there were approximately twenty <br />people and they stayed mostly on the bank of the river. She noted that only one person had been seen <br />climbing through the blackberry bushes for a photo opportunity. <br />Ms. Larison asked about the bathroom situation. Ms. Mello replied that there were no portable toilets <br />there as originally planned. She also noted that the kayakers cleaned up after themselves and had not put <br />up canopies. <br />9. New Business <br />a. Election for Secretary <br />Mr. Cooper read Article 5 from Committee Officers section of the CPC bylaws that required an election <br />for Secretary. He asked if anyone was interested in taking the position of secretary. Ms. Morrison was <br />nominated. <br />Ms. Mello, seconded by Mr. Sonnichsen, moved to elect Ms. Morrison for Secretary of the <br />CPC. The motion to elect passed unanimously. <br />b. Motion Proposal by David Sonnichsen for the Alton Baker Park Canoe Canal Redesign <br />Mr. Sonnichsen put forth a proposal for a motion to redesign the Alton Baker Park Canoe Canal for the <br />area around the Interstate 5 /Willamette River Bridge project.
