Economic Impact
The City already posses the reputation as a tourist destination and possesses the
infrastructure in the form of hotels, restaurants, and entertainment necessary to capitalize on
the expected increase in whitewater visitors. Similar Cities, such as Vail, Breckenridge, and
Vail have noted significant increases in local economies due to these visitors. Economic
impact studies, included in Appendix C, show that Whitewater Parks in these towns have
brought between one and two million dollars a year into the local economy. Grants Pass,
with its unique restaurants, antique stores, specialty shops and art galleries can expect a
similar impact from a Whitewater Park located in this Qty.
Flow Characteristics
Peak flows are shown in Figure 2:
USGS 14361500 ROGUE RIVER RT GRRHTS PISS, OR
200000
0
a
150000
u
b
. 4100000
o , o
o
▪ •1 p
O ` O
.9 50000 O , a _ {
•
O ° • 0
e e
O 0 0 `q• P O O q O Q
4 0
1940 1950 1960 1970 1980 1990 2000
DATES: 03/12/1939 to 12/28/2002
Figure 2.
