PETERSON Carrie A
From: NILES Laura M
Sent: Wednesday, April 28, 2004 1:23 PM
To: PETERSON Carrie A
Subject: Declined: Volunteer Recognition Event Planning
Carrie,
I had a late breaking required meeting added to my calendar while I was away. Please excuse
my inability to attend this crucial first meeting. A couple of things I would like to add to the
review of last year's event;
1. Do we really need displays? They were time consuming and didn't receive allot of attention
(except getting them out of the rain!)
2. Wouldn't it be great if we had the City Manager invite our volunteers to this city -wide event?
Dennis is definitely willing to even SIGN all the invitations that go out! On City card stock this
invitation could be perceived as more personal and bind all of our organizations together.
3. Definitely have sign in tables again but use alpha sign in process rather than program area for
ease with those folks who volunteer for several programs,
4. Eliminate kid zone and focus more on volunteers.
5, Use city items for the drawing instead of purchasing gift certificates so that the city is
featured not local companies.
6. Organize setup and teardown teams to ensure not everyone needs to be at the event all day.
That's it for now! Good luck and Ill see you soon as I am the LRCS contact person for this event
and look forward to working with you again.
Laura
1
