<br /> Ms. Beck called the meeting of the Scobert Park Advisory Committee to order at 6:35 p.m. She
<br /> reviewed the agenda and referred to an announcement regarding Measure 47 Town Hall Meetings
<br /> scheduled by the City Council, encouraging members to participate. She determined there was
<br /> consensus to adopt the agenda.
<br /> I. PUBLIC INPUT
<br /> Katheryn Henderson, 3551 Mill Street, stated that she represented Eugene Community Partnership, a
<br /> coalition of concerned individuals and groups dedicated to reducing youth involvement in substance
<br /> abuse, crime, and violence. She distributed copies of a document entitled "In Support of an Ordinance
<br /> Restricting Sales of Large Servings and Malt Liquor." She said her organization endorsed the
<br /> recommendation of the committee that the City Council enact a ban on the sales of large and fortified
<br /> alcoholic drinks in the neighborhood of Scobert Park. She suggested that such a ban could be an
<br /> effective "environmental" deterrent to alcohol abuse. She offered resources of her organization in
<br /> working to improve use of the park.
<br /> Laura Capozzi, 1491 West 4th Avenue, stated that she was a nine -year resident of the Scobert Park
<br /> area. She reported that it was her experience that the park was relatively unused and that she supported
<br /> the recommendation of the committee to enhance its use as a neighborhood garden.
<br /> Andrew Ross, 1195 Almaden Street, stated that he was impressed with recommendations of the
<br /> committee about use and community activities in Scobert Park. He suggested that most
