HAMMITT Bob
From: BECK Marjorie B
To: LINDSTROM Dan; CHOUINARD Lauren D; JENNINGS Carrie A
Cc: RIKHOFF Greg S; MORGAN Dick A; HAMMITT Bob; BREMER Richard B
Subject: RE: Scobert Park Ad. Com. Minutes 12/7 Meeting
Date: Thursday, January 09, 1997 10:06AM
Priority: High
Here's all the things I can think of that we need to take care of for next Tuesday's meeting:
Minutes: I've read & edited mine & sent on to Lauren for review.
Here are my responses to Dan's "Not Part of Minutes" notes:
1) Missed meetings: Susan Detroy has resigned, so we don't need to worry about notifying her. We do
need to notify Carol and Jayme they can't miss next week's meeting. I suggest a phone call (preferred) or
a note in their agenda packet.
2) Replacements: With only three more scheduled meetings, I wouldn't recommend bringing in a
replacement now.
3) Committee's ability to remove members: DAN, WHY DO YOU ALWAYS BRING UP THESE DIFFICULT
QUESTIONS ? ?? Actually, the same thing occurred to me. I suggest we just dodge it if it comes up by
saying the department directors expect their committees to adopt groundrules governing attendance, to
ensure full committee participation, and if a member can't meet an attendance groundrule the groundrule
can be automatically invoked without referring the decision to the directors. I haven't actually checked this
out with Dave, but I'II bet he'd say yes. Think that'll fly?
Membership:
Carrie, I assume you are going to notify Sis Anderson that she's off & can ask to be reinstated. A note to
Susan Detroy would be nice too, thanking her for serving.
Quorum /Voting majority: Dan, according to your chart with 15 remaining members that puts our
quorum /voting majority requirements at 10 for the next meeting.
Agenda:
Staff information on intermediate enforcement options:
1) Rich, I assume you are briefing Tom on info the committee asked for next meeting
2) "Park Rangers " - -Bob, Dick, do you know what employee Bob Emmons was talking about who used to be
an urban park ranger? Are you going to try to have information on that?
3) Tom's membership: I think it might be a good idea to have a brief memo in the packet restating our
proposal for how they handle this. Also we can let them know in advance they can do it by secret ballot.
I drafted something that might work - -see attached and comment, please.
< <File Attachment: MEM0.197> >
Carrie, we will also need to have the secret ballots prepared.
(And remember, we may still have cameras at the next meeting. Or we may have folks showing up
wanting to support Tom.)
I've probably forgotten something. If so, I hope Carrie can fill us in. See why I still think it's useful to
have staff meetings? mb
From: LINDSTROM Dan
To: CHOUINARD Lauren D; JENNINGS Carrie A; BECK Marjorie B
Subject: Scobert Park Ad. Com.
