Scobert Park Advisory Committee <br /> Final Recommendations <br /> March 7, 1997 <br /> Committee's Charge: <br /> Provide recommendations to the City of Eugene departments of Public Safety and Public <br /> Works for a safe and useful park for community members. <br /> Committee's Vision Of Scobert Park: <br /> Scobert Park conveys an attitude of welcome for the neighborhood. It is safe and <br /> drug and crime free because of the appropriate involvement of police and users <br /> obeying park rules. It offers an aesthetic, garden -like, natural setting for <br /> individual renewal, community activities, and ever - increasing use by children and <br /> families. It provides a clean and healthy environment which is well - maintained <br /> by the City and neighborhood residents. <br /> -- Adopted December 10, 1996 <br /> Scobert Park Advisory Committee <br /> Proposals to Support the Vision in the Areas of: <br /> • Safety, Crime and Drug Prevention, Park Rules, and Police Involvement <br /> • Park Design, Aesthetics, Setting, and Plantings <br /> • Clean and Healthy Environment <br /> • Park Use and Community Activities <br /> I. Safety. Crime and Drug Prevention. Park Rules. and Police Involvement <br /> 1. Provide additional law and park rules enforcement, including contract police services and <br /> intermediate forms of enforcement with good interface with the police. Ask City Council to pass large single - serving and fortified alcohol (beer and wines) sales <br /> ban in the neighborhood. <br /> 3. Provide regular police officer foot or bicycle patrols in the neighborhood around Scobert <br /> Park. When the Whiteaker Public Safety Station (one block south) is open, one of the <br /> officers assigned there could periodically patrol the park.
