About 30 to 40 people had gathered in the park and were playing music and <br /> - celebrating" according to Calls from residents at about midnight <br /> Twenty officers from the Eugene Police went into the park at about 1 :30 this morning and told about 15 <br /> people that they were in violation of existing park rules and were asked to leave the park or be unrested. Most of <br /> the group left the park without incident, but four adults and one juvenile were arrested. <br /> Yesterday afternoon the people who were occupying the park were given a flier that stated the planned <br /> closure of Scobert Park had been temporarily suspended for one week In order to give concerned people a <br /> chance to Voice their opinion about solutions to problems Within the area. The flier went on to state that until then <br /> all other park rules were still in effect and would be enforced. The filer panted out some of those rules, including <br /> no camping in the park, no use of alcoholic beverages or drugs in the park and that the park closed at 11:00 p.m. <br /> The protesters were asked to please follow all the perk rules in order to make the park safe end usable for all <br /> people. <br /> The five people arrested were: <br /> - Ellen Ruth Klowden, 26, of Eugene, arrested for violation of park rules, <br /> - Emery Linn Harris, 30, arrested for violation of park rules and attempted 2 degree criminal mischief. <br /> - Stephen Craig Drupe, 35, arrested for violation of park rules and possession of marijuana <br /> - Richard Butler Moser, also known as Sunshine, 35, arrested for violation of park rules and illegally <br /> obtaining the contents of a conversation. <br /> - Jefferey Adam Lackey, 13, arrested for violation o f park rules and curfew violation. <br /> -MORE- <br />
