► irO („6 Scobert Park Committee ON )3 4.( Proposal to the WCC 1) We propose that the following be approved by the WCC in order for 1) our committee to access available funding from the city, 2) the city to take action on various recommendations which the Scobert Park Advisory Committee made in March, and 3) us to form a permanent Scobert Park committee.. A) Priorities for $10,000.00 which the city has designated for capital improvements: 1.) New playground equipment designed for small children and in line with the design and size of the park. 2.) A new sign with the name "Scobert Gardens" made by a local artist and costing $500.00 or less - -we will research this. 3.) A daytime family /community event on Sat., Sept. 6 with music, food and Its games - -this event could also be a fundraiser for the park. B) Recommendations from the Scobert Park Advisory Committee that we want the city to pursue: 1.) An information board with a map of the area and brief information on services - -this would not be a bulletin board that anyone could use 2.) Banning the sale of fortified alcohol in the neighborhood 3.) Pull the basalt bench from the SE area of the park to discourage foot traffic in planting beds 4.) Install motion detector lights in the South end of the park -- consult with neighbors who may be affected by these lights. Also follow up on whether illegal use of these areas changes. 5.) Change the name of the park to Scobert Gardens. C) We would like to form a group called "Friends of Scobert Park" 1) This could be a permanent subcommittee under the auspices of the WCC 2) Our mission statement will be "To protect, maintain, and enhance Scobert Garden as a place for the community to enjoy ".
