PROPOSED INTERPRETIVE CENTER WITH CLASSROOM /RESTROOMS /GIFT SHOP
Halfway down the driveway, in the middle of the proposed public area, is a
flat area and a garage (19'x11') which was apparently converted to a shop. It
is proposed to tear down that building and replace it with one approximately
30'x25' to contain the interpretive center, classroom, gift shop, and
restrooms. Restrooms would contain composting or chemical toilets; grey water
would be pumped up to septic. Children coming to the nature center to build
bird houses or plant a hummingbird gardens, families coming to picnic, will
need to wash their hands. It is proposed to install a tankless propane water
heater (an ecologically educational alternative to a conventional water
heater). The classroom would be available for CRCC (or Nearby Nature, Native
Plant Society, Audubon, etc.) classes or for use by community groups as a
small meeting room. The intepretive center would have permanent and
changeable displays, as well as room for exhibits by other environmental
organizations, such as the Native Plant Society.
Some display cages will be sited as part of this building with viewing access
from both inside and outside. Construction /roofing will be designed to fit
into its environment.
Restrooms Classroom /Meeting Room
Interpretive center /gift shop
