1
MORSE RANCH
PROPOSED OFF -LEASH DOG AREA
A downscaled off leash dog area is proposed for the Morse Ranch Park. The
proposal comes following further staff consideration of previous public tes-
timony, responding particularly to comment that the stream and adjacent
marshy areas be kept off limits, and that fencing along original fencelines
be reestablished. •
On the accompanying drawing the perimiter fencing for corrals and pasture are
shown in their 1974 locations. Existing or proposed points of access are
also shown. Fencing along these lines that are non - existent, almost 900
feet, would be replaced according to the original style. Portions of the
remaining 800 feet of fencing around the off -leash area are in need of refur-
bishing. The actual amount needed to enclose the off -leash area is approxi-
mately 600 feet.
A new fence is proposed west of the stream, set back 15 to 50 feet and run-
ning approximately parallel to it. An objective of this fence is that it be
of the lowest possible visual impact. Accordingly, it is proposed to have a
light wire fabric (notice fabric from distance at Amazon Park off -leash area)
attached to green painted steel posts . For structural reasons, corner and
end posts would be of pressure treated wood. A gate of sufficient width to
allow passage of farming equipment would be provided at the culverted creek
crossing. Total length of this fence would be about 650 feet.
The area created would be closer in size to other dog park sites being estab-
lished, be confined to better draining terrain, and offer a variety of sun
and shaded space.
5/6/92
_t
