Medlin DEF p
Maintenance Support Manager
Public Works Maintenance
1820 Roosevelt Boulevard
Eugene, OR 97402
Dear Mr. Medlin:
On behalf of the Eugene Off Leash Association, I would like
to thank you for the time and energy you have recently
devoted to the Morse Ranch Off Leash Area dispute. The Board
has discussed the recent proposal to fence along both sides
of the stream, while retaining off leash access to both
sides, and we have decided to support this proposal.
Despite our support, we do not feel that this type of fence
is truly needed or warranted. However, we understand your
desire to be responsive to the concerns raised by the off
leash opponents. It is our hope that this fence will be a
temporary one - pending the plantation and growth of a hardy
and protective vegetation along the stream bank. A natural
vegetation barrier would certainly help to protect the stream
bed against any potential degradation, and would be less
obtrusive.
If the fencing is to be permanent, we are confident that
Public Works will make an effort to ensure that it is as low
and unobtrusive as possible. In either case, whether the
fencing is to be temporary or permanent, we hope to be
consulted before it is erected - as we would like to discuss
the installation of additional crossing points.
I look forward to being contacted by you soon to discuss
the possibility of temporary fencing and the installation of
additional crossing points. I thank you again for your help
in this matter.
Sincerely,
Casey Forrest
Chair - Eugene Off Leash Association
44,5-52Z.1
7q1 - C07-13
