This site was originally donated in 1995
Kathy Wilger with the understanding that we would vacate our current city -owned site within
President
five years. Since that time we have obtained a Conditional Use Permit (a
Debra Delegato
had go through twice) for the site, contracts for the land transfer
Vice Prresident ident p rocess we to g rou g )
Paul Theisen and parking lot, acquired our architect and general contractor, and completed the
Treasurer architectural drawings, all a process taking the first several years.
Cheri Peterson
Secretary Unfortunately it has taken three years to complete the building permit
MikeGarling process for this project. Our first set of drawings for the building had to be
Greg Gerot substantially revised by our architect when the city staff learned that the
Bill Hoffman occupancy code for the infant/toddler section was being interpreted differently
Susan Williams by the state. After the revised drawings were submitted it was then learned that
Capital Committee: there were serious water issues on the donated site. The water flow test for the
Debra Delegato, chair site came in extremely low and for some time jeopardized the possibility of even
McCabe Investments being able to build on that site. The City, EWEB, CSI, NAWIC, and others
Bill McCabe, chair worked together to help resolve the code changes and interpretations as well as
McCabe Investments
Micheal Roberts the water flow issues, which have caused the project to extend beyond its
Gale Roberts Co., Inc. original timeline. We received building permits in October of 2000 after this
Lynn Daniels Anderson three -year process.
Community Volunteer
Diane Dugan
Community Volunteer We would have met our original timeline if the building permit process
Steve Gunn had been completed within a typical timeline. We've met the city's
Construction Focus requirements in all other areas and are asking that the council reaffirm the
Paul Theisen agreements made between the City and Child Care Inc. in 1995.
2G construction
° ' OBt , pp y We have met the requirements set by the City to reach 80% of our
Greg Gerot construction funding before groundbreaking. The funds we have raised to date
fdwardJones are $472,950.22. This includes the projected in -kind donations from our
Bill Hoffman construction community and the Meyer Memorial Trust $100,000.00 grant that
Northwest Retirement Services
Mike Darling will be released after we begin construction. The total construction budget is
Porker &RastrideElementary $533,226.67.
Executive Directors:
Michelle Lang There have been many generous donations toward our project. This is a
Diane Schultz unique project and wouldn't be possible without the support of the many
169 North Washington St. businesses and individuals involved.
