Steve has <br /> approximately 21 years of accumulated experience in the construction field. After <br /> working several years as a carpenter, he successfully operated his own construction <br /> business and later worked for a local commercial general contractor as manager of its <br /> commercial division and chief estimator. <br /> EDUCATION: <br /> Steve earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois in 1972. <br /> After moving to Oregon in 1974 he completed numerous construction related and <br /> computer related classes at the University of Oregon and Lane Community College: <br /> Business Law, Accounting, Uniform Building Code, Solar Energy, Drafting, Real Estate <br /> and computer software classes. <br /> WORK EXPERIENCE: <br /> 1972 -1975: Laborer and carpenter. <br /> 1975 -1977: Partner in Future Oregon Homes, a general contracting company that <br /> performed both commercial and residential construction. <br /> 1977 -1987: Operated Gunn Construction Company; a general contracting <br /> company that specialized in custom residential construction. As a sole proprietor, Steve's <br /> responsibilities included: supervision of personnel, supervision of jobsite construction, <br /> preparation of estimates, bids, and preparation of contract documents. <br /> 1987 -1993: Chief estimator and Commercial Division Manager for 2G <br /> Construction, a general contracting company that performed industrial, commercial and <br /> residential construction. Steve was responsible for the preparation of estimates and bids <br /> for all of the company's major commercial construction projects. This list included: <br /> offices, motels, restaurants, medical clinics, fire stations, warehouses, multifamily and <br /> single family dwellings. These projects ranged in cost from a few thousand to a few <br /> million dollars. <br /> 1994- Owner and operator of Construction Focus. <br /> OTHER: <br /> Steve has been a member of The Construction Specifications Institute for 5 years. <br />
