7. Except as provided in a) below, the use must not involve any soliciting, <br /> personal lobbying, recruiting, selling, advocacy, or proselytizing, whether for or <br /> against, any outside organizations, businesses, products, services, charities, <br /> religions, political or social causes, or campaigns. <br /> (a) The City Manager or designee may authorize a local charitable effort or <br /> event. In such case, communications about that effort or event are <br /> considered work - related. <br /> 8. The use must not involve fund- raising or issue advocacy unless it is an <br /> authorized City activity. <br /> 9. E -mail use must not include mass distributions such as chain letters. Official <br /> City business may be mass distributed following the guidelines under "City <br /> Electronic Mail" below. <br /> 10. The equipment shall not be used for gambling or gaming. <br /> 11. The use of the City's internet for live or streaming video, streaming music or <br /> images or information and instant messaging for personal reasons is prohibited. <br /> This includes such things as itunes, webradio, and webshots. Use of these tools for <br /> business reasons, such as watching a City Council meeting or a product <br /> demonstration video on a web site, is allowed. <br /> 12. All use of the internet by City computers must go through the City - controlled <br /> network. Employees are not allowed to use wireless hot spots to access the internet <br /> from City equipment in order to avoid compliance with this policy. Laptops that <br /> are used while an employee is working at home or traveling are exempt from this <br /> requirement. <br /> 13. The use must not violate any copyright laws, or any other law, City rule, or <br /> policy. The use must not facilitate an illegal activity of any kind. <br /> 14. No software may be loaded onto any City computer unless that software is <br /> directly business - related. <br /> 15. Employees shall not use unauthorized codes or passwords to gain access to <br /> others' files. <br /> 16. Law enforcement personnel and other City staff in the course of their duties <br /> may, from time to time, be required to utilize City electronic office equipment and <br /> technology in a manner that is inconsistent with this policy. Such use is permitted <br /> as required, and will be monitored by the Chief of Police or responsible Executive <br /> Manager who shall be responsible for investigation or other work which may result <br /> in use that is outside of this policy. <br /> 17. City equipment, including laptops, shall not be removed from the workplace <br /> for personal use. Use of equipment that is removed from City property for use on <br /> City business must comply with this policy. <br /> F.
