400 8 5 Programs that reward employees suggestions for improved organizational (departmental, etc.)
performance. Better communication and more contact with top management. Top management
should visit all work units once during the course of a year. For PWM — better communication
with the public about what we do.
139 8 5 Taken as a whole, the City of Eugene is a very good organization, both to work for and in terms of
service delivery to our customers. I feel the City Manager and Executive Management Team do an
admirable job in promoting respect and fair and equal treatment of all City employees, regardless
of their status and position. For the most part, staff are thought of and treated as valuable members
of a larger team. I feel that I am justly compensated for the work I do and am afforded enough
•
flexibility and support to keep my job related stress manageable. Two points I would like to make:
I) I feel upper management suffers from, and in turn fosters in other staff, a severe case of
analysis paralysis for even fairly minor policy decisions.
2) I feel there is a large lack of understanding on most staff's part of exactly what is the City's
mission and what is the common purpose that we all are working toward.
386 8 5 Gary has done a good job. Sure beats what we had.
385 8 5 Our fleet shop supervisor is the best I've ever worked for. Management above him is lacking in
many areas. I. e.
- No productivity reports
- No performance recognition •
- Poor team building — except for shop supervisor.
148 8 5 Good people to work with!!
260 8 5 #68 - 68 — Isn't this contradictory? It really doesn't matter what my race is or who I am or does it
Who is the real racist?
I feel that there are two different standards that exist between the maintenance workers and the
maintenance techs.
383 8 5 Our team works very hard at keeping the fleet moving. Gary Bellah is the best, most professional
supervisor I have ever worked for. He has brought fleet together like never before, and morale has
never been higher.
144 8 5 There is, at times, a lack of clear direction at various levels of supervision and management. The
City is often bogged down by "policy," "process" and "paperwork ".
637 8 5 I found it difficult to answer questions relating to my department and even division because I don't
fee qualified to speak for different work groups. I do feel confident speaking for myself and my
work group. Maybe questions could be phrased so I'm speaking for myself and immediate work
group rather than the entire department.
•
816 8 6 #49 We have a program?
815 8 6 I would like to see temp employee's that have proved to be good employees stand a better chance
of becoming a permanent employee.
