1 <br /> Mr. Gordon reflected on the life of Les Lyle, who was an original member of the Wetheads. He <br /> spoke glowingly of Mr. Lyle's contributions to the efforts to save and revitalize wetlands. Mr. <br /> Duckett noted that there was a move afoot to dedicate a wetlands site to Mr. Lyle. <br /> 4. NEW MEMBERS DISCUSSION <br /> Ms. Banks introduced the partnership agreement to be signed by all of the present partners and <br /> the new partner, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. Mr. Gordon commended the <br /> USFWS for joining WET. <br /> A. McKenzie River Trust (MRT) <br /> Mr. Gordon discussed the MRT involvement with the Umpqua and Long Tom watersheds. Mr. <br /> Running, speaking on behalf of the MRT, stated that MRT is experiencing a high volume of <br /> interest and that MRT is looking forward with enthusiasm to joining the WET as a partner. <br /> Mr. Running affirmed, in response to Mr. Cameron, that the MRT is a 501(c)(3) organization. <br /> Mr. Cameron moved, with a second by Mr. Corey, to direct Mr. Gordon to pursue <br /> negotiations with the board of MRT. The motion carried unanimously. <br /> Mr. Gordon noted that the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, Lane County Audubon <br /> Society, and Willamette Resources & Educational Network (WREN) have expressed interest in <br /> joining the partnership. <br /> Mr. Gordon outlined the process for seeking out and negotiating with potential partners, at the <br /> request of Ms. Dougan. He said that the process is initiated in the Wetheads meetings and that <br /> the partnerships must be deemed to be mutually beneficial. Mr. Gordon agreed to come back to <br /> wetheads and WET with written criteria and process for considering and accepting new partners <br /> to the program. <br /> 5. WET REPORTS FROM THE FIELD <br /> A. City of Eugene <br /> • 1135 Project <br /> Mr. Duckett reported that the 1135 project is entering into the last phase with the budget ending <br /> in October of this year. He clarified, at Mr. Adams request, that the number 1135 denotes the <br /> line in the Water Resources Development Act that specifically directs the ACOE to do eco- <br /> system restoration and that the ACOE should provide 75 percent of the funding with the rest to <br /> • MINUTES -- Wetland Executive Team July 27, 2001 Page 2 <br />
