when this would work for you.
Item #2 I also want to show you a open drainage channel off of Lassen St that
is suffering a bad case of promiscous dumping. We have sent hand
crews in past years but there are now a lot of old hypodermic needles
in with the trash and we are going to have to use mechanized equipment
to remove the trash. I just want you to see it before we do anything
so you will know why we have to use the gradall. Local neighbors are
on our case to clean up and fence off this. area. Gene is working on
a response since we do not have access and it is not our property to
fence. The location is only a few blocks from Maintenance so maybe
we could combine this visit with the meeting I proposed in Item #1.
Item #3 I just want to be sure you heard this from me first. Richard's crew
have been filling ruts along the top of the Amazon (like what we saw
on our last field trip near Danebo). Anyway, while they were grading
the top of the south side levee near the diversion dam, Myron thought
that some of the piled dirt along the back side of the levee had been
left by the contractor from the last cleaning project. S0000, he ran
over it with the CAT to flatten it out. Unfortunately, it was the
northwest corner of the westerly (of the 2) mitigation sites on the
south side of the channel. I went out with Richard this morning to
look at it. It is an area about 30' by 30', one of the scalloped
areas. Luckily, it is not terminal, it can be replanted. I have a
call in to Mark Wilson in Portland to have him come down to look at it
with me to see what we need to do to repair /replant.
Reason this happened: Richard was not aware of the 2 mitigation sites
along the south bank. This is my fault for not scheduling a tour of
these sites for Gene, Dave, and Richard. Richard and I still need to
work on our communication since I was not aware this project was in
progress. We are working on it.
Sorry to report this, if you want to look at it Monday let me know. Go
ahead and share this with Les, he should know. jack
