As a result of the stream channelization, several problems have developed. The existing channel
slopes are 1.5:1 which makes wildlife access very difficult and inhibits the growth of native vegeta-
tion. A 2 ft. high head cut on the west fork of the creek has formed upstream of the channel, drop-
ping the water table and altering the wetlands in the natural area that is managed by The Nature
Conservancy.
Project Goals
This project provides and opportu-
nity to implement important goals c3'11 -- _ --
set forth in the West Eugene Wet - _ `'
lands Plan.
. *1 TH AV
* Enhance and protect a . —
corridor along Willow
Creek that links Eugene's
south hills uplands to the `:Ic
Amazon Creek wetlands Po • 1 `. <<
system. ,
* Create open water wetland I
habitat. it g
13 PRo1
FR POb6D • P F'E
ViH WATER Z
WIWLIP - we*rt.A WWEAT --
* Protect wet prairie plant .
