STBASCOM.COM Page 1 <br /> NOTES FOR MAYOR BASCOM <br /> EUGENE STREAM TEAM <br /> RECOGNITION CEREMONY <br /> o Eugene Stream Team is the volunteer component of the City's Stormwater Management Program. <br /> The work of the volunteers contributes to the protection and enhancement of water quality and habitat <br /> of streams, wetlands, and ponds within the Eugene city limits. <br /> o For the past 10 months, volunteers have been participating in a variety of activities, including: <br /> storm drain stenciling parties, clean-up events, construction projects, vegetation removal, and <br /> salvaging of native plant species. <br /> o Tonight, we are honoring the first formal adoption of six natural areas in Eugene. By adopting <br /> these sites, the six groups are taking on a stewardship role for these areas. Each groups is making a one- to <br /> two -year commitment to protect and enhance the individual sites, which in turn will contribute to the <br /> overall quality of the water in the Eugene area. <br /> ((MAYOR BASCOM NOTE: As you recognize each group, a representative from the group will come <br /> forward to accept the award. Hand him/her the award and shake hands.
