17 of 23- Catchbasin at 18 and Agate
o PWM Contact: Gene Shutt
o PWE Contact: Therese Walch
Current Problem: Catch basin situated in the rolled curb /valley gutter portion near the north
side of 18 Ave. approximately 100 ft. West of Agate St.. The catch basin becomes blocked
with leaves in the fall and winter, causing street flooding of up to a foot in depth for a hundred
feet in either direction on 18 Ave.
• Recommended Solution: Do analysis and design an improved system.
• Status: New project.
• Date identified as a CIP: (July `98)
18 of 23- Fir Crest - off Sylvan
o PWM Contact: Fred McVey
o PWE Contact: Therese Walch
Current Problem: Fir Crest (near Hendricks Park). An inadequate drainage system at the
intersection of Fircrest and Sylvan has created heavy runoff from bubbler catch basin #53536.
Water is frequently being directed away from the gutter on the west side of the street and
entering driveways on the downhill east side, creating drainage problems for residents.
Recommended Solution: Piped storm line connection from structure #53712 to #53537.
• Status: As a City maintenance project, inlet #53537, located in the ditch on the south
side of Sylvan at the intersection with Fir Crest was lowered, with a sloping concrete
reveal added to improve drainage. The recipient bubbler catch basin #53536 was moved
approximately 40' to the north to prevent the runoff from entering the driveways on the
east side of Fir Crest. Although there have been no reported flooding complaints from
residents since this work was completed, a drainage problem still exists in this area.
This could be solved with the installation of a piped system with an additional manhole
and catch basins, where needed, running north to manhole #53712.
• Date identified as a CIP: (Mar. `96, Nov. `97, July `98)
19 of 23- Holly Street - Mid -way between Gilham & Norkenzie
o PWM Contact: Brian Elliott
o PWE Contact: Gale Mills
Current Problem: Low points on unimproved street creating a standing water problem on both
sides of the street. Possible site for a drywell system.
• Status: Submitted to Engineering July `98.
• Date identified as a CIP: (July `98)
20 of 23- Ditch north off Green Acres east of Falcon Wood Village
o PWM Contact: PWM
o PWE Contact: Therese Walch
Current Problem: The banks contain thick vegetation and trees. Lumber, yard clippings, and
other debris can be found throughout the entire length of the ditch.
• Recommended Solution: Vegetation management, some debris removal and minor
culvert crossing cleaning and grading. Site is of educational value with respect to water
quality and natural resources. Potential Parks volunteer cleanup project.
• Status: New Project.
• Date identified as a CIP: (July `98)
97rehab.stsl1 /97 bne
