Determine those areas that show significant <br /> loss of material to the storm system. <br /> • Document the quantities of sand that are applied and collected for each storm event and <br /> evaluate the effectiveness of existing cleanup practices. <br /> • Develop possible improved strategies for applying (or collecting) sanding materials. <br /> Document sanding O &M procedures and include as a chapter in the comprehensive O &M <br /> manual (three ring binder) developed under BMP OM1. <br /> Task 2: • Implement any improved strategies for applying sand and evaluate their effectiveness. <br /> 0M4 - Department of Transportation Practices <br /> Task 3: • An existing intergovernmental committee will discuss methods of coordinating information <br /> among transportation authorities and make recommendations regarding maintenance <br /> practices on public rights -of -way. <br /> 0M5 - Clean -up after Accidents and Fires <br /> Task 1: • Review and, if applicable, revise initial cleanup procedures by emergency fire units (after <br /> structural fires) to include procedures which reduce impacts to stormwater quality. <br /> • Review fire unit's post incident equipment cleaning practices to ensure minimum contam- <br /> inant runoff to gutters and /or fire station catchbasins. Revise cleaning practices as <br /> necessary. <br /> Task 3: • Develop education materials and /or training for Department of Public Safety staff about <br /> fire site contaminant clean up and its relation to stormwater quality. Include education <br /> regarding revised procedures for equipment cleaning practices. <br /> 0M6 - STREET SWEEPING <br /> Task 4: • Make recommended revisions to existing procedures and implement improved practices (in <br /> Permit Year 4) and record keeping. Document revised street sweeping and flushing <br /> procedures and add as a chapter to the comprehensive operations and maintenance manual <br /> developed under BMP OW. <br /> 0M7 - Effectiveness of Storm System Cleaning <br /> Task 2: • Develop improved cleaning schedules and practices for cleaning all catchbasins and <br /> inlets /outlets.
