•
-- ,Maximize Filtration of Stormwater This issue is not addressed in the LSP.
Consider Characteristics of Trees and Vegetation Used for Landscaping The LSP proposes
adoption of a residential street tree program. The specific ordinance has not been created yet,
although the issues outlined in your memo have been discussed by LSP staff, and have been
forwarded to Urban Forester who will be creating a set of urban forestry standards and _
specifications in conjunction with ordinance adoption.
Minimizing Connections of Impervious Areas to the Street Drainage System The LSP proposes
setback sidewalks on all new local streets which would allow for sidewalk drainage into
vegetated areas. Recommendations affecting on -site drainage area not included in the LSP.
Alternative Curb and Gutter Options See discussion of Storm Drainage and Treatment Facilities,
above.
Alternative Materials for Paving The LSP does not address alternative paving materials..
Reduce Trip Lengths and VMT Street connection standards and private street standards are both
recommended in the LSP; both should reduce out -of- direction travel caused by a disconnected
street system and work to promote more direct routes to destinations. These changes favor
increased use of alternative modes of transportation. In addition, the LSP is looking at providing
some direction and design consideration for transit routes in future residential development areas.
Thank you for providing us with your recommendations. We will provide the DAC with copies
of the draft Local Street Plan once it is printed. If you have questions about issues discussed
above, please contact Allen Lowe at 687 -5481.
LSPSTORM.DOC
•
. w
