• ' • CITY OF EUGENE STORMWATER MANAGEMENT ANALYSIS 1995
LEVEL OF AWARENESS FOR VARIOUS CITY ACTIVITIES
The City activity which has the highest visibility, or level of awareness, among Eugene
residents remains the Street Sweeping program; acknowledged by 86% of the total sample.
The activity which has the lowest level of awareness is the Eugene Stream Team Program;
this was acknowledged by 12% of the total sample, which is admirable considering it is a
new program .
While the street sweeping and leaf pick -up programs continue to have the highest level of
recognition, they have both slipped slightly in level of awareness since the Benchmark
study. All other activities have shown an increase in the level of their awareness in the
community. The Benchmark study revealed 27% of the total sample were aware of the
Stormwater Management Program, the level of awareness has increased to 36 %. -•
Twelve percent (12 %) of the sample (compared to 8% of the Benchmark sample) men-
tioned a variety of other City activities which they feel effect the community's water qual-
ity. Free day at the dump for toxic chemicals was most frequently mentioned (by four)
with no one theme emerging. All activities are listed in Data Table 16 appended to this
report.
The graph on the following page shows the percent of City residents who mentioned famil-
iarity with each of the activities included in the Benchmark and current survey. In three
out of the first four activities there were changes made in the content of the question.
While there was an increase in the level of awareness with the new wording, the amount of
increase is consistent with the other activities which had no change in the question. The
last two activities in the graph are new questions added to this year's survey and so no
comparison is made.
scudder&associates/research Page 6
