Although the
area is zoned P.U.D., there appears to be a way that the property
can be "clear cut" or "thinned" and a permit issued within ten
days of application to the Urban Forester without a public
hearing opportunity being given to adjacent land holders.
We are not against "sensitive development" of the property into a
Planned Unit Development which takes into account the
preservation of the property and fir stands owned by adjacent
landholders. However, we are deeply concerned that an area which
should be developed PUD to preserve the hillside adjacent to our
property, could first be stripped of its fir trees. This area is
part of the headwaters for Amazon Creek. Denuding the land will
not only be unsightly to South Eugene, it may increase the risk
to downstream landowners if runoff is increased. We believe
other environmental concerns should be addressed as well.
We would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter. Please
advise us of any hearings that may be pertinent to the sale of
the above property or matters concerning the timber located on
the 46 acres.
Very truly you s, Ohm ; ?D To:
Y
Ronald R.
