• <br /> POLICY <br /> 1. All work shall comply with-Street Tree Regulations Chapter 20.40 by <br /> Ordinance No. 134330 passed April 6, effective May 8, 1972, by permit <br /> granted for that purpose. <br /> 2. The National Arborist Association Standards, revised 1979, shall be adhered <br /> to at all times. Deviation from those standards shall be at the discretion <br /> of the City Forester and by his approval. <br /> 3. The policy of this bureau shall be one of cooperating with the public and • <br /> property owners at all times. <br /> 4. No trees or shrubs shall be removed without first consulting with the <br /> abating owners. <br /> 5. Removal of trees for any reason from all public area shall be at the <br /> discretion of the City Forester. <br /> 6. Persons having been denied permission to deviate from any of these specifications <br /> and standards may appeal to the Street Tree Advisory Committee. <br /> SPECIES, CULTIVARS OR VARIETIES <br /> 1. Only those trees shall be planted which are selected from the foregoing <br /> approved list and considered most suitable by the City Forester. <br /> 2. Where street blocks have been assigned one species, cultivar or variety, <br /> only this species, cultivar or variety may be planted. <br /> 3. Trees prohibited for street plantings: <br /> Acer saccharinum (Silver Maple) <br /> Aber negundo (Boxelder) <br /> Ailanthus gladulosa (Tree -of- heaven) <br /> Betula (Cancan species and varieties) <br /> ULcus (Elm - canton species and varieties) <br /> Mores (Canon fruiting species and varieties) <br /> Populus •( Conon species and varieties) <br /> Salix ((Daimon species and varieties) . <br /> Coniferous (Evergreens) <br /> 4. Other species, cultivars and varieties may be prohibited upon recommendation <br /> of the City Forester. <br /> • <br /> PLANTING <br /> Size <br /> 1. All street trees must be of sufficient size to warrant satisfactory results, <br /> not less than 1: inch to 11 inch in diameter at 6 inches above ground level, <br /> and at least 8 tb 10 feet high in neighborhoods, on main arterials, around <br /> public buildings and commercial developments 21 inches to 3 inches, and 12 <br /> to 15 feet high. <br /> • <br /> -3- <br />
