The Office of the Urban Forester will promulgate regulations governing the protection
of trees during house moves for the manager's signature as per Eugene City Code
8.005(20)b.
INSECT -AND DISEASE CONTROL
The City will rely on cultural controls for insect and disease problems on City trees
along streets right -of -way and other municipal properties. This approach includes, but
not limited to, removing profoundly diseased trees and not planting those trees that
have a propensity for insect and disease problems. The City will not spray
insecticides for control.
PROHIBITED VWORK
Topping or the removal of more than one -third of the live crown is considered
detrimental to the tree and is not permitted, unless such work is to make safe a
hazardous condition. The removal of the limbs from one side of the tree, from the
ground to the top, is considered detrimental and is not permitted. Climbing irons,
spurs, or spikes are not to be used on City trees to be pruned or otherwise retained.
EMERGENCY 'WORK
Under emergency conditions caused by adverse weather or other unusual
circumstances, as determined by the Urban Forester or designee, the above policy may
be suspended to expedite work necessary to ensure public safety.
li \ rotect. l 9/13/94
Po .cy P Po
