In aneupdate on tree
removal activities which have taken place during
Dillard /Old Dillard Rd. Tree Felling Permit Update
As reported in the December 3rd Council newsletter, Benchmark Northwest was
granted a limited permit on November 23, 1993dtolr remove a original
approximately twelve acres between Dillard
request was for a thirty foot wide logging road to traverse the property and
to remove up to 80 percent of the Douglas Firs present. The limited permit
which was approved restricts removal to those trees
a v i n road rights-of-way.
disease, decay, or are hazards to existing structures
The haul road width was limited to twelve feet instead of the thirty feet
requested.
This week staff performing their daily inspection found tree removal has
occurred on this site that is believed to be outside the provisions of the
permit. In particular, it is the staff opinion that the twelve foot wide
clearing allowed for the haul road area has been exceeded. Representatives of
Benchmark Northwest have been instructed that no additional tree removal for
the haul road will be allowed without specific approval of the Urban Forester.
The Urban Forester is in the process of determining esnu Ifitiees that
may have been removed outside the approved permit p rth
findings place this number at approximately 25 -30. An inquiry has been
forwarded to the City Attorney's office requesting an opinion if
administrative or civil penalties should be imposed.
The information covered above is also being mailed on Friday December 17th to
the neighbors and interested party list that was generated in the application
pocess for the ation, please Olcrontact JJohnnydMedlin tree
or Jan
at
687 -5220.
iform
Since /e2
Johnny R.
