MEMORANDUM
Date: August 19, 1993
From: Bob Hammitt
To: Chris Andersen
Subject: TREE ORDINANCE INFORMATION FOR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
It was my understanding that the Board of County Commissioners had requested
information regarding the differences between the County Tree Conservation and
Protection Code and the new Eugene Tree Preservation Code. Jan Staszewski
prepared a memo that could be presented to the Board that outlined the major
differences. Since I was not sure if the Board of County Commissioners also
wanted a presentation or how to process the memo with them, I contacted Arlene
Marshall at the County for additional instruction. Steve Cornacchia was in
her office when I called and she asked him how they wanted this request pro-
cessed. Steve said that if the intent was to apply the City's new Tree Pres-
ervation Code only to the City limits and not outside of the City in the Urban
Growth Boundary they did not need a memo or any information. I told Arlene
that my understanding was that the City's Tree Preservation Code only applied
within the City limits and that we would continue to administer the Urban
Growth Boundary through the existing County code. Given Steve's instructions
I am not planning to send the memo or planning on any presentation to the
Board of County Commissioners.
If I should handle this in a different manner, please let me know.
cc: Linda Norris
Johnny Medlin
Jan Staszewski
