HAMMITT Bob
From: MEDLIN Johnny R
To: NORRIS Linda H; ANDERSEN Chris F
Cc: WEBER John J; HAMMITT Bob; STASZEWSKI Jan
Subject: County UGB Tree Ordinance
Date: Wednesday, November 02, 1994 2:39PM
Bob Hammitt asked that I forward the following:
Responding to a request from the City of Eugene in early 1990, the Lane County Commissioners enacted a tree
preservation ordinance allowing the City of Eugene to regulate tree removal outside the city limits but within the
Urban Growth Boundary. The initial sunset of this ordinance was November 30, 1991. The ordinance was first
extended to June 1, 1993 and again subsequently to December 1, 1994.
With the impending sunset only a month distant, City and County staff have requested the County Board of
Commissioners to once again extend the sunset. This item is scheduled on the Board of Commissioner's
agenda for a first reading on November 8th at 9:00 a.m. and on November 22nd at 1:30 p.m. for the second
reading.
Over the last eighteen months two permit applications have been processed resulting in both being granted.
Roy Bums of the County Public Works Department is lead staff for this issue with the County. Jan Staszewski,
John Weber and I will be in the audience in the event the Board seeks further information.
Thanks
Johnny
Page 1
