•
Date: 03/05/93
From: Sandra Gleason CEWASLG - RIS1
To: Jan Staszewski CEWMJXS - RIS1
Bob Hammitt CEWMJRH - RIS1
Subject: NeighborWood Volunteer Recognition
Reference: Note attached below
Jan /Bob: This is the info. I'm proposing to send to Pam to help her
talk to the Council about our proposal. Do you think we should add anything
or do you have suggestions for changes. Let me know ASAP, as I would like to
have to her by tonight or early Monday. Call me if you have questions.
Sandra
ATTACHED NOTE
Date: 03/05/93
From: Sandra Gleason CEWASLG - RIS1
To: Pam Berrian CEEXPCB - RIS1
Subject: NeighborWood Volunteer Recognition
Last April, the department focused its Arbor Day celebration on the newly
created NeighborWoods program. At the celebration, Debra Ehrman thanked
each participant and presented them with a certificate of appreciation.
This year, the tree plantings have covered a wider area that spans six wards.
Because the activities involve more volunteers and wards, we are proposing
the six affected Councilors personally thank the volunteers for their work
at a City Council meeting (Monday, April 12). We expect to recognize
approximately 20 volunteers for their leadership in organizing and leading
tree planting activities in their neighborhoods. Public Works would prepare
the certificates and coordinate the ceremony. At the meeting, each Councilor
would ask the volunteers from his /her ward to stand, then would offer a brief
thank you and present the awards -- or staff could hand them out. We expect
the entire recognition to take about 10 minutes, which would include a brief
introduction /description of the program (by staff) and the thank you and
presentation of awards (by councilors).
Please call me at 687 -5523 or Jan Staszewski at 687 -5359 if you have questions.
