RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PARTIES INVOLVED IN <br /> NEIGHBORWOODS PLANTINGS <br /> BEFORE PLANTING DAY <br /> Project Leader <br /> Canvasses neighborhood to introduce neighbors to NeighborWoods and asks <br /> if neighbors interested in helping plant and care for a tree or trees on <br /> the public right -of -way (minimum of 20 trees total required) <br /> Collects names /addresses /etc. of participating neighbors, then submits <br /> list to NeighborWoods Coordinator <br /> Provides each participant with a flyer outlining individual neighbor's <br /> responsibilities preceding Planting Day <br /> Participates in another neighborhood's Planting Day to see how it's done <br /> Ensures that there will be about one volunteer per tree to be planted <br /> and sets up a meeting site and headquarters for Planting Day <br /> Telephones the volunteer pool to bring available and experienced people <br /> from outside the neighborhood to help on Planting Day <br /> Calls in utility checks at least 10 days before Planting Day; after <br /> locates done, confirms that planting sites are okay, and marks perimeter <br /> of planting area prior to sod removal and hole digging <br /> Keeps neighbors and NWTPC informed of any changes <br /> Neighbors <br /> Agree to participate in program by removing sod and digging the hole <br /> before Planting Day, helping plant their tree(s) and those of other <br /> neighbors on Planting Day, and then providing regular care and water for <br /> the new tree <br /> Provide one pick -up trunk for every ten trees to be planted <br /> Select preferred tree species from the two recommended by NWTPC <br /> NeighborWoods Coordinator <br /> Provides technical expertise and supervision to Project Leader and to <br /> neighbors <br /> After receiving from Project Leader the names /addresses /etc. of parti- <br /> cipants, carries out handlebar survey of proposed sites <br /> Develops species list and orders trees from nursery <br /> Keeps Project Leader and neighbors regularly informed of project <br /> progress <br /> (please turn) <br />
