MEMORANDUM <br /> April 7, 1993 <br /> TO: City Councilor Bobby Green <br /> Ward 6 <br /> FROM: Jan Staszewski <br /> Urban Forester <br /> SUBJECT: NeighborWoods Award Ceremony <br /> During the April 12 Council meeting, councilors from each of the wards will <br /> present awards to the volunteer leaders who supervised tree planting projects <br /> in their neighborhoods in the past year. <br /> The City has not actively advertised or recruited volunteers. Most of the <br /> people who participated in this year's program heard of it from last year's <br /> volunteers or from media coverage during the plantings. They then contacted <br /> us about becoming involved. Unfortunately, this year we received no requests <br /> from people in your ward to participate in the program. <br /> Next planting season, we plan to develop an active volunteer recruitment <br /> program to encourage more citizens in all eight wards to participate. We <br /> will make a special effort to involve the neighborhood groups and citizens in <br /> your ward. <br /> Be sure to call me at 687 -5359 if you have questions about the program. <br />
