Subject: Construction Trauma
•5. There are 3 trees located near the intersection of West Broadway
,_li and Lincoln Street, one Black- walnut and two Oregon Big Leaf-
" maples.
4,,, The purpose of my inspection and investigation was to examine
the trees, their location and what affects the forthcoming
{,•., construction trauma will have on their longevity.
0, ' F Many of my forthcoming calculations and predictions are made
• in working with many older species of trees, 22 of which are
the largest, namesake or heritage trees, both here and throughout
r the state. In addition I have worked on and studied most of
the larger street trees in Eugene, Oregon including the trees
in this report while I was the tree surgeon for the City from
") 1964 through 1966.
•
ll'
I examined each tree individually and did a drilling of the
each tree's root flair to determine the structural stability,
both above ground and for any signs of decay in the buttress
of the tree.
1 Because of time allowed on this project my inspection was visual
and from the ground. If an inspection was conducted up into
1 ) the trees trunks and canopy I believe one would find the overall
tree to be some what worse than the forthcoming report.
i
4
E
