Issues
1. Goals difference: City staff perspective is to attain what is best for
the trees. EWEB staff perspective is to attain what is most efficient
for the maintenance of the power transmission lines.
2. EWEB has specific safety clearance requirements mandated by the PUC.
They prune to these standards, not necessarily for the "health" of the
tree.
3. EWEB is in a position to support (with work and funding) enhancement of
street trees. Encouraging this attitude is much to be desired.
4. EWEB isn't required to do more than notify the city of tree liability
problems, but may be amenable to correcting them while they are there.
Encouraging this attitude is much to be desired.
5. EWEB staff feel burned by Adams St. removal of last year. They feel
they had agreement from Neighborhood organization and local "tree"
leaders (they named Nora and Nina) but still had significant problems
with the abutting residents.
3
