Project IEP City of Eugeatmaker- Johnston
illustrations for the manual, handouts, and other education materials; (e) participate in interpretative planning, (f) prepare
educational materials for inclusion in library, (g) participate in evaluation activities; and (h) attend project meetings.
Materials Testers (Stipends): We will utilize cooperating teachers from local School District 4J to pilot test the
education materials. Some of the teachers who have indicated an interest in pilot testing education materials have
participated in wetland activities in the past and some hope to bring students to tour the wetlands in the future. Each will
receive a stipend based on the type and amount of work they do during the testing phase. Students will not be involved
under this proposal.
EVALUATION PLAN
The evaluation team will work with City of Eugene staff to conduct process and outcome evaluation. Evaluation data
will be collected from selected personnel from involved governmental and non - governmental agencies, schools, and
community-based non - profits and businesses. Results will be used to ascertain: (a) ongoing processes, (b) level of
progress in achieving intended outcomes, and (c) areas needing improvement. Four methods are used to gather data:
direct observations, face- to-face interviews, surveys, and document analysis. A broad range of elements/variables are
examined during the program evaluation phase. Those variables are divided into categories related to: (a) architectural
planning and materials; (b) interpretive plan, marketing tools and educational themes to unify materials, signs, and
interpretation; and (c) educational materials for training docents. Evaluators will analyze and compile periodic summaries
needed to optimize project implementation. Reports are given to the funding agency at predetermined intervals.
Three categories of questions that guide the evaluation of the project are related to: Grant Management, Project
Content, and Project Products. Sample questions under each of these categories follow.
Grant Management: Among the important questions that guide the evaluation are:
• Did we do what we said we would do?
• Was each task completed?
• Were project timelines met?
• Were resources adequate to complete each task?
• Was the budget appropriately managed?
Project Content: Evaluation questions will include:
• Were appropriate instruments and procedures developed and used in data collection?
• Were the evaluation design and analysis plans implemented as planned?
• Were appropriate data analysis techniques used?
project Products:
• Did each objective produce the expected product?
• Were the project products perceived as useful?
• Were mechanisms used to disseminate findings?
18
