Dick Morgan Parks Services 1820 Roosevelt Eugene, OR 97402 May 17, 1994 To: Amateur Athletics Supporter. • On April 19th, Mayor Morrisette wrote you a letter inviting you to two meetings to help the Metropolitan Sports Commission develop a strategic plan for amateur athletics in the Springfield- Eugene area. We held the first meeting on May 5th and spent the evening developing a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis for amateur athletics. The results of that meeting are attached to this letter. This is a reminder that our final planning meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the Pittman Room of the Casanova Center. We should finish the meeting by 9:00 p.m. We'll accomplish three items at the meeting. First, we need to review the preliminary SWOT analysis and make sure it reflects reality. Second, we need to listen to what you think your organization or sport needs to effectively meet the challenges identified in the SWOT. Third, you will be asked to identify the major tasks, projects, or actions we can accomplish do in the metropolitan area to make amateur athletics grow and prosper. Your assignments are easy. 1. Please review the SWOT analysis and look for major items that are missing. Also, please comment on whether the summary is an accurate reflection of the more detailed comments. 2. Think about the SWOT and how it applies to your organization or sport. Be prepared to write down what your organization needs to build on identified Strengths, address Weaknesses, take advantage of Opportunities, and minimize Threats. 3.
