Findings
Bailey Hill Elementary
City staff recommend further evaluation of this site as it was rated high for
use as a potential landbank for affordable housing. The site does not present
a suitable site for neighborhood park or recreation use, and the area is
already considered adequately served by the recreation and open space
amenities at Kennedy Middle School and Churchill High School and Youth
Sports Park.
Dunn School
There is moderate interest in using Dunn School for affordable housing.
While surrounding residents are not well served by neighborhood parks, the
site does not provide sufficient space and access to serve in that capacity.
Laurel Hill School
Laurel Hill School was not found to be a suitable site for affordable housing,
and the neighborhood is well served by the existing neighborhood park
directly to the south of the school. The city would hope to continue a strong
collaboration with future leasees or property owners of the school to ensure
good access and recreation opportunities for the Laurel Hill Valley.
Santa Clara Elementary
The property owned by School District 4J around Santa Clara Elementary
presents a number of potential opportunities that deserve further evaluation.
These include park and recreation amenities in addition to affordable
housing.
Westmoreland Elementary
The residents surrounding Westmoreland Elementary park are considered
well - served by neighborhood parks. Within '/2 mile walking distance
residents can access Acorn, Berkeley, and Garfield Parks, as well as the
Amazon bikepath. Westmoreland Community Park is also within
reasonable proximity to these residences. The site does, however, provide a
strong opportunity as a landbank for affordable housing. Additional review
of this site for affordable housing is recommended.
