• I E UGENE City Manager's Office City of Eugene 777 Pearl Street, Room 105 Eugene, Oregon 97401 -2793 (503) 687 -5010 FAX 341 -5894 March 10, 1993 Dr. Margaret Nichols Superintendent Eugene School District 4J 200 North Monroe Street Eugene, OR 97401 Dear Margaret: It is my understanding that Eugene School District 4J is planning to move their bus transportation operation from the site north of Civic Stadium to the previous Lane Transit District site sometime this summer. If that is accurate, the City of Eugene would be interested in developing an intergov- ernmental agreement to utilize a portion of the existing Civic Stadium site. The portion of the site that would benefit City of Eugene operations is at the very northeast corner. It is approximately 150 feet by 130 feet and would include the ten bay shed. The attached aerial photo designates that parcel. The City of Eugene Public Works Department would utilize this site as a sat- ellite maintenance facility. It would be used to house equipment, materials and supplies that are needed in the southeast corner of town thus cutting our travel distance and helping us deliver services more efficiently to the pub- lic. During ice and snow emergencies we would stockpile sand at the site to reduce hauling distances to the South Hills. That would enable us to respond more quickly to problem areas including school bus routes. Prior to Gary Long's departure from District 4J, City Maintenance staff were discussing the possibility of this intergovernmental agreement with him. The City is interested in renewing those discussions with the appropriate school district staff.
