,XUt GE NE Public Works
Maintenance
1820 Roosevelt Boulevard
Eugene, Oregon 97402
November 7, 1994 (503) 687 -5220
Jonathan Lauch
Administrator of Facilities Management and Planning
Eugene School District 4J
200 North Monroe Street •
Eugene, OR 97401
Dear Jonathan:
I am writing this letter to you, as I understand School District 4J is getting closer to moving
their bus transportation operation from the Civic Stadium site to the Lane Transit District site.
The City of Eugene notified the school district (March 10, 1993 Mike Gleason memo), of our
interest in the portion of the site at the northeast comer, that is approximately 150 feet by 130
feet and includes the 10 bay shed. The attached aerial photo designates the parcel of our
interest.
The City of Eugene Public Works Department is still interested in this site as a satellite
maintenance facility. It would be used to house equipment, materials, and supplies that are
necessary to our operations in the southeast comer of the City. The site would help us reduce
travel distance and deliver services more efficiently to the public. During ice and snow
emergencies sand would be stockpiled at this site, which .would help us reduce hauling
distance to the South hills. Reduction of the hauling distances will enable us to respond more
quickly to problem areas, including school district 4J bus routes and Lane Transit District
routes.
If in fact School District 4J is getting closer to moving their operation, I would like to begin
discussions about the possibility of acquiring the northeast comer of the site. Please let me
know the progress of your move, and the possibility of beginning discussions about this site.
Sincerely,
Bob Hammitt
•
Maintenance Director
Attachment
