Three years seems like a long time before the park district is in a financial crisis. The Board of
Directors want to start the dialogue as soon as possible so we can plan for the future or the
demise of the park district. During the campaign for mayor which I attended there was an
agreement by both candidates that the park district was a jewel for the River Road area and
that dialogue needs to happen to preserve this treasure. Unfortunately, It has been 2 months
and we are no closer to even finding out if the City Council wants to meet with the park district
let alone trying to set up a meeting.
We have been dealing with the City of Eugene for several.years without resolution. With this
in mind, because of our financial condition, we expect resolution within sixty days.
Sincerely,
Wayne Q Helikson, Chairman
River Road Park and Recreation District
