May 12, 1987
TO: All Employees
FROM: Gene Shutt *,;b
SUBJECT: PUBLIC WORKS DAY
On May 21st, several people will be needed to assure that Public Works Day
runs smoothly and is successful. To help with this process the following
assignments have been made:
EOUIPMENT OPERATION AREA
Coordinate set -up /spotter /alternate operator ------------ ----- - - -- Ed Spaght
Safety Coordinator -------------- ------ --- --- ------------- -- ------ Ron Chapman
Case Backhoe ----------------------------------------------------- Jerry Fussell
Case Backhoe ---------------------------------------------- - - - - -- - Don Malm
Case Backhoe ---------------------------------------------------- - Ralph Wendt
John Deere Backhoe --------------- -- -- ----- ---- ------------------ - Dan Gonzalez
Ford Mini- Backhoe ------------------------------------------------ Arlan Collman
Ed Spaght and the above employees can set the equipment up around the dirt
pile assuring backhoes are placed so there is plenty of room between units.
Barricades and ribbons can be used to keep people from wandering around in the
operation area. Operators should briefly explain their machine, what it is
used for and give a brief operating demonstration. The entire focus should
be on safety.
Allow those who wish to operate a machine about five - minutes of actual oper-
ating time. Limit the operation to the boom only and do not use the front
bucket or drive the tractor. Ed Spaght can coordinate area safety for Ron
Chapman, keep people moving into idle backhoes and break operators when they
take breaks or when they tour the rest of the event. Ed should have a radio
in case there is a problem or if more help is needed.
Gradall------------------------------------------------ - - - - -- - Myron Boss
Since Myron has done this before and everything went well, he can set up in
the same place as last time. When there is no Operator waiting, Ed can direct
someone towards the Gradall. Ron Chapman can also keep a "safety eye" on this
area. _
Front End Loader------------------ --- ---------------- - - - --- ---Darrell Hookland
