TARGET AUDIENCE
* 9th. graders (i.e., 15- year -olds) are our No. I target. Other targets:
UO Career Development classes (perhaps later in day, with presentations
before PW Day), LCC Displaced Workers Program (need to avoid recruitment
atmosphere), minority community (perhaps combine invite with invite to
PW Day)
II. WHAT WORKED WELL LAST YEAR
* Job Stat cards
* Overview presentations
* Link between PW jobs and CIS manual
III. BRAINSTORMING IDEAS FOR 1992
* Need interactive activities for our target group. For instance, "What's
My Line" game with Job Stat cards, treasure hunt to find occupations.
* The PW Day tour can be a real asset for Job Shop, if Divisions have
staff available to explain different careers, and if guides are
knowledgable and can answer questions.
* Introduction needs to hit some key points, including explaining packet
materials and offering info on internships, summer jobs, etc.
IV. GO WITH THE FLOW
* Recommended flow: Participants arrive, go to main room for introduction,
take tour with guides, return to main area for presentations on topics
(e.g., skills needed) and workshops, possibly in "classrooms."
* Timing recommendation: Consider two main sessions, one starting at 10
a.m. and another starting at noon. -.,...
V. WHAT'S NEXT
* Need to get with representatives, counselors from 4J, Bethel, U0, LCC,
and minority community.
* Next planning meeting is Friday, March 13, 8 to 9 a.m.
