Date: 01/13/93
From: Claude Banker
To: Bob Hammitt
Johnny Medlin
Subject: Chlorine
CEWMCLB - RIS1
CEWMJRH - RIS1
CEWMJRM - RIS1
Yesterday, January 12, 1993 I met with David Nuss, Chuck Solin, Harry Dennis
and Myrnie Daut regarding Chlorine. The reason for the delay in the chlorine
issue stems from a push to remove chlorine gas from the Hazard Materials sect-
ion of the UFC (Article 80) and incorporated chlorine into Article 74, titled
compressed gas. This amendment according to David did not receive approval
from the Fire Service people and in his opinion the UFC will remain as written.
Therefore, next week when Gil Wistar returns from vacation he and I will dis-
cuss the appropriate measures necessary for chlorine storage and containment.
Unless I'm being naive, I do not see any of these processes being too diffi-
cult. At this point it appears that most issues can be dealt with operation-
ally. When asked for time frame of completion, David said, as long as we're
working together on solutions he didn't feel time constraints would be necess-
ary. Other issues were discussed regarding WWTP, however it is not pertinent
to our position. Thank you,
