Message
FYI - On Thursday night's Brewer Park workshop I received a number of negative comments (to put it
mildly) from workshop participants about the City's new web site. Generally, they said they had great
difficulty finding the information they wanted, including parks, neighborhoods, or much of what they had
previously been able to access. In particular, they felt that the POS web site had been almost entirely
disabled.
I couldn't tell them how to get to the Brewer Park web page, because the URL string is a huge line of
symbols and code (as opposed to www.ci.eugene.or.us /parks /brewer click -able maps are defunct, the
pull -down list is gone, and the search function not working. The information from the previous pages (as
noted below) hasn't been carried forward, there's no connection between public meetings /events and the
park web pages, and we have no way of adding additional events to the calendar in any case. I could go
on, but suffice it to say that this has abruptly ceased to be a functional tool for getting info out to the public,
and that's not just my perspective.
Look and feel is very important, but right now - and I wish it weren't true - we don't even have basic
function.
I know you're doing what you can (thank you!) - I just wanted to keep you updated on the real -time impact
on our public relations.
- - - -- Original Message---- -
From: HOSTICK Robin A
Sent: Monday, July 18, 2005 10:33 AM
To: DONALD David H
Cc: BLANCHARD Bob C; RINER Andrea G
Subject: Brewer Park web page
Hi David - I had a workshop last Thursday night for the design of Brewer Park, and I'm seeing that the
information from the previous page hasn't been carried forward, incl. info about the workshop, the
workshop report, and the draft plan. Could you please update the page to include the latest info? Also,
how can I tell the workshop participants to get to a specific page? It's very tough to find, and the search
function isn't working ...
Thanks
Robin Alan Hostick
Landscape Architect
City of Eugene
Parks & Open Space Planning
1820 Roosevelt Blvd.
Eugene, OR 97402
tel. 541.682.4915
fax 541.682.4882
7/20/2005
