Parks and Open Space Strategic Planning
.Agenda Item Template
Title:
Building Bridges to Other Departments
Description:
Better our working relationships with staff outside the POS Division and the Public Works
Department. Improved collaborative partnerships will foster:
• open communication
• common goals
• resource sharing
• political support
Why is this important?
As part of a larger organization, POS will benefit from having strong support from other
Divisions and Departments. Particularly if the POS Division wants to move in directions that
are new and innovative, we may find ourselves needing to coax others along with us in order
to make significant changes. Other parts of the organization could be threatened by these
changes if the groundwork is not properly laid. Identifying common goals and building trust
are critical first steps.
Who's Involved:
Stakeholders-
• Public Works
• LRCS
• PDD
• Police
• ISD
• CMO
Decision Makers- Division Managers and Department Directors are the primary decision
makers. The City Managers Office may also be a decision maker in certain situations. The
foundations of collaborative partnerships will also come from positive relationships at a staff
level.
Strategic Planning Template February 2007
