Emphasize the most important service delivery
(Workload and
Foerstler
priorities.
Prioritization
Improve communication with elected officials. I may be naive, but I can't help but think that
if we had better communication with the City Council, they would have a better
Education about Job
understanding of the issues that effect our service delivery, and therefore be better
Duties and
advocates for our work. The current standard avenue for communication is through
Procedures
communications (such as an AIS or a Council Memo) or in the formal setting of a City
Council Meeting. I believe that more informal meetings that fostered dialogue would not
Weiss
only result in a better informed Council, but in better relations between Council and Staff.
The birth of email has created an increasing demand for up -to -date information, larger
numbers of people who need to be "in the loop," a possible new addiction to communicating,
Time Management
and a never ending list of "stuff' that needs to be read, responded to, forwarded, saved for
and
I
future, deleted, then redeleted from the deleted. In this new world there seems to be an
Overcommunication
exponential increase in the number of committees (and meetings), less time to really think
things through, and more and more time spent managing an endless number of emails.
Darnell
Our ability to influence private land as it relates to recreation and natural resource
management is not well developed with private partners, limiting our success at acquisition
and limiting our ability to be creative when planning recreation and habitat management.
Private Partnerships
We would benefit from improved partnerships with private property owners through
Taylor
expanded influence over recreation access and natural resource management.
Extending our service requests to the public. What I mean is having a service request that
the public can fill out online via internet. The online service request would ask all the
Public Service
pertinent information; we could review before submitting to the service request program
Request System
referenced above. This would save us time as we receive a lot of emails that do not include
all the pertinent information and we would not need to re -enter information that the public
LeGat
already typed via email.
