Incorporate key messages related to community vision and <br />benefits of parks, recreation and open space in outreach and <br />promotional materials. <br />1 -67. Support community- and neighborhood - building efforts by <br />continuing to sponsor and participate in events such as grand <br />openings, community service projects, and volunteer <br />recognition events. <br />1 -68. Track and measure the effectiveness of the public information <br />program on a regular, ongoing basis. <br />1 -69. Consider developing a park host program to provide <br />continuous staff or volunteer presence in major parks and <br />natural areas. <br />1 -70. Communicate sustainability strategies and actions to promote <br />public awareness. <br />Public Involvement <br />1 -71. Continue involving citizens in park design and development, as <br />well as in program development from the earliest possible <br />stage. <br />1 -72. Increase innovative strategies to improve citizen involvement in <br />parks and open space planning efforts, such as <br />teleconferences, electronic on -line chat rooms, child care at <br />meetings, and partnerships with schools. <br />1 -73. Consider the use of advisory committees as a strategy for <br />gathering public input. <br />1 -74. Develop and administer methods to measure performance of <br />public involvement efforts over time on a regular basis. <br />1 -75. Identify segments of the community that are under- <br />represented in community discussions and develop new tools <br />to increase their involvement. <br />1 -76.
