Central Lane Regional Parks Plan (1970) <br />Goals <br />• The provision of a broad range of regional park and recreation areas to <br />accommodate anticipated outdoor recreational needs. <br />• The preservation of significant open space areas such as: <br />• major watercourses and adjacent scenic flood plain lands; <br />• significant land forms, unique scenery, vegetation and wildlife habitats; <br />• Productive agricultural lands, surrounding forested hillsides, and other <br />specialized lands. <br />• The coordination of acquisition, development, and administration of regional park, <br />recreation and open space areas. <br />The Plan for Central Lane Regional Parks proposes: <br />1. Continuous Urban Riverfront Park Chains along the Willamette River through <br />Springfield and Eugene; <br />2. A series of dispersed Riverfront Parks along the major waterways of the Central <br />Lane Region <br />3. A series of Hill Parks within and immediately surrounding the Central Lane Region; <br />4. A series of Reservoir Parks <br />5. A series of Park Trails extending along the major hill crests and waterways and <br />connecting major regional park areas in the Central Lane Region; <br />6. Specialized single - purpose park, recreation and open space areas of regional <br />significance; and <br />7. Regional open space patterns designed to preserve natural scenery and to protect <br />productive resource lands within the Central Lane Region. <br />Draft Region 2050 Goals and Objectives (June 2001) <br />The draft goals and objectives listed below were developed by the Region 2050 policy <br />advisory committee. <br />Natural Resources Open Space and the Environment Goal: <br />Protect, restore, manage, and enhance important natural resources and open spaces <br />and maintain high quality air, water, and land resources in the Southern Willamette <br />Valley. <br />Objective 1 <br />Develop and implement a vision for regional natural resources and open space that <br />protects and connects valuable farm and forest lands, wetlands, surface and ground <br />water resources, wildlife habitat, and opportunities for recreation. <br />
