There was a shift of approximately 20 percentage points from "Right Direction" to "Wrong
Track" since last October's Community Survey.
2. Approximately 2/3 of respondents felt they have enough information about local issues. This
is significantly higher than found with the comparable question in Springfield's November, 1997
survey.
Support Levels
1. Respondents generally preferred maintenance of existing assets to building new ones.
2. Respondents saw working with other groups (e.g. other government and non -profit agencies)
and making needed repairs as strong positives.
3. There was a general ranking of parks preferred to athletic facilities preferred to open spaces
among the ballot measure components.
4. Additional information increased support. The greatest change occurred in the support for new
athletic facilities.
Supporters and Opponents
1. The greatest support and likelihood to increase support occurred among respondents under 50
and those with children.
2. The greatest opposition and least movement towards support was among those aged 60 and
over and those from west Eugene.
3. There was a qualitative difference in the demographics of respondents which separated the
open spaces and parks ballot components into one group and the athletic facilities into another
group.
