PURPOSE OF NEW DIVISION <br />In order to facilitate discussions on what programs should be included within the new division, the <br />following list of purpose statements was developed. <br />• Provide leadership in developing a Parks & Open Space vision/plan for the future. <br />• Provide management for Parks & Open Space lands under public ownership. <br />• Provide regulatory administration for laws /codes promulgated for protection of open <br />space under private ownership. <br />• Provide leadership in the development of policies /procedures for management of publicly <br />owned park and open space lands. <br />■ <br />• Provide leadership /partnership in the development of regional open space acquisition. <br />• Provide analysis and development assistance for establishing diverse and stable financial <br />resources to implement division priorities. <br />• Provide leadership in providing public information regarding Parks & Open Space to <br />Eugene residents and in maximizing public participation in Parks & Open Space <br />planning. <br />• Provide leadership and develop policies for continuing to share equipment and resources <br />between PW -POS, PWM, and PWE to maintain and expand on service delivery <br />improvements gained through such cooperation. <br />October 19, 2000 5 <br />
